Being raised in the rural Midwest by parents who did not complete high school, Keith learned early in life about the limited opportunities available to those without an education. Motivated after participating in a math field day competition at the nearby four-year college, Keith soon developed a goal of earning a bachelor’s degree. While attending the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), he gained employment as a student worker at the UNLV Center for Academic Enrichment and Outreach (The Center) whose mission is to increase access to and completion of undergraduate and graduate programs among disadvantaged populations. In this role, Keith quickly realized a deep passion for helping others understand the value of education and achieve their educational goals. Nearly 20 years later, Keith currently serves as the Deputy Executive Director of The Center that helps over 25,000 students and adults annually re-enter high school and/or earn a diploma, as well as enroll into and graduate from college.
